American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
What is ASME?
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is the leading internationally accepted construction code defining the requirements for the design, manufacture, inspection and testing of many types of pressure vessels and nuclear power plant components.
How we can help Our extensive experience enables us to offer a very wide range of services to help you to meet the requirements of the ASME Code.
We are able to:
- give advice on the procedures required for you to obtain ASME Certificates of Authorisation
- assist you in preparing and establishing Quality Assurance (QA) Programmes and Quality Control (QC) Systems
- help prepare your Quality Manuals
- attend the ASME review, renewal reviews and surveys
- provide authorised inspectors and supervisors to inspect manufactured components
- arrange seminars to train your personnel in the requirements of the ASME Code
The ASME Code requires that manufacturers seeking a Certificate of Authorisation demonstrate that they have established an adequate quality control system, including a quality manual defining how the ASME Code is implemented. Manufacturers in the nuclear field must additionally demonstrate compliance with ASME quality assurance requirements. We have the necessary expertise to help you establish a fully documented quality system to meet ASME requirements.
What are the benefits? Certified compliance with the ASME Code is often mandated as part of a contract for supply of materials or components. Even if not required, ASME certification is recognised as an indication of quality of the manufacturer as well as its products.
In the UK, ASME services are provided by LR Insurance (Technical Services) Inc.
