Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS)Lloyd’s Register operates, on behalf of Water Utility Companies, the Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS).
The scheme represents part of an ongoing process to introduce competition in to the water services market.
Under the scheme we perform technical assessment of the service providers who elect to be assessed for accreditation for contestable works associated with the installation of water infrastructure. The scopes of registration are as follows:
- Design
- Project management
- Construction of Mains and/or Services
- * New Scope * Construction of Routine Mains Connections (Please note for this scope construction of Mains and Services must be held)
What are the benefitsAccreditation under the scheme will provide the service provider with the following benefits:
- accreditation recognised by all water utilities and Water UK
- independent assessment and registration process
- assignment of an accreditation mark which will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard
- Lloyd's Register website listing of registered service providers.
