Lloyd’s Register support to Scottish & Southern Energy’s power station will strengthen its operations
Lloyd’s Register has been awarded the contract to provide third party inspection services for the 2010 outage at Scottish & Southern’s Ferrybridge C Power Station.
The contract, starting in April 2010, will run for 25 weeks and covers inspection work of steam boilers that will be conducted by Lloyd’s Register Group inspection engineers and engineer surveyors from the organisation’s UK Energy operation in Coventry. The work covers third party inspection and verification activities associated with the main steam boiler headers, tie in pipe work, associated re-heat, main steam and IP loop pipe work, together with material inspection, turbine and boiler valve refurbishment and replacement.
Paul Neilson, Senior Buyer, Scottish & Southern Energy said: “We are confident that Lloyd’s Register again will provide a significant benefit to the business especially with welding procedures and quality, as well as the valves works and the material controls”.
Sid Platts, Regional Manager North for Lloyd’s Register EMEA said: “We are delighted that Scottish & Southern Energy chose to work with us again and we are looking forward to helping them meet their strategic objectives at Ferrybridge. We hope to build on the relationship with Scottish & Southern Energy and are certain that it will be a mutually beneficial relationship.”
