Lloyd's Register operates, on behalf of the UK Gas Transporters, the Gas Industry Registration Scheme.

Under the scheme, Lloyd's Register performs technical assessments of Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIPs), who elect to be assessed for accreditation, for work associated with the construction of new gas infrastructure operating up to 7 barg pressure, in the following scopes:
Design
Construction/Commissioning/Connections (Routine) [CCCR]
Project Management
Audit
Connections (Non Routine, Basic) [CNRB]
Specialist Iris Stop Connections
Specialist Stopple Connections
Specialist Hot Welding Connections
Specialist Large Diameter PE Branch Connections
The GIRS accreditation mark represents the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard and is recognised by all UK Gas Transporters. Accreditation under the scheme will provide the UIP with the following benefits:
standardised set of requirements
single point of contact
accreditation recognised by all UK Gas Transporters
the Accreditation Mark, assigned to registered UIPs, will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard.

Lloyd's Register cannot provide quotations neither can it recommend accredited UIPs to undertake connections work, however the list of UIPs accredited to undertake connections work may be accessed by clicking on the link 'GIRS Providers' above.
